Default Whats under the reflectors on the saddlebag latch?

Am interested in removing the red reflectors on my painted saddlebag latch covers.
Whats underneath? Can I expect the surface to be nicely painted? Or will I need something else to replace the reflector?
Thanks

If you don't dig it to **** when you remove the reflectors, it should be nicely painted. You will have to be careful when removing the reflectors and the glue.

Default Was hoping so

Thanks Dawg. Was hoping it was finished. I think I read a hairdryer to warm the glue? Lighter fluid? Lighter fluid seems harsh..
I would appreciate any advice on safe effective ways to remove the reflector.

Yes a hairdryer or heat gun will work to heat the glue to get the reflector off. Goo-B-Gone, Lestoil, etc. with a microfiber cloth will take off any glue left on the latch.

I'd go with an air chisel use the muffler cutter end! works great!! don't worry about what Dawg said,

Air chisels are our friend!!

Ok, no more fun!!! I use a hot air gun (hair dryer) and a plastic lever for doing windshields, just be very careful, take your time, tape the outside edges with painters masking tape, and pry off the tape gently

use fishing line or dental floss to loop behind the reflector and the latch then slowly saw paralell to the reflector.
use goo be gone to get rid of the glue
it is painted underneath, I did mine before I switched to the edge cut latches.

I was just thinking about taking a hair dryer to my latches and the plastic HD tank emblems on my 12 flhx. Careful if using fishing line as it will scratch in not very careful. Post some pics when done.

Took mine out and wasn't happy, so I ordered these http://store.fatbaggers.com/sain.html
And they look great. Match the streamliner look perfectly. Says it takes up to four weeks, but I got mine in 2. When you take them out there's a small round metal piece which I wasn't expecting.
