Default stator/regulator plug

I am having trouble disconnecting the regulator plug. I have searched the forums and can't find the info in the service manual. I do not have the electrical manual. I need to test my system due to p0563 & b0563 (battery voltage high) codes that I received the other day. So....probably a stupid question....but does this plug just pull out with some effort or does it turn and pull, or what? I don't want to create more problems than I already my have. BTW - if anyone knows why I might have received those codes could you help me out?

Thanks.

stator plug, which year/model ?

some models the stator is a plug into the regulator which is released via a clip

battery voltage high would be a failure of the regulator.

the stator puts out AC voltage ( like your house) the regulator converts it to DC ( like your car) and should limit voltage to under 14.8 DC going to the battery.

you can put probes at the battery and check the voltage with the motor running, take the revs up over 3000 rpm for a moment to get a reading.

I'm sorry. I have a 2007 Road King Custom. Battery reading with engine off is 12.75. After I started it, it dropped to 11.88 and then read 14.25 after i revved it up. I don't have a tach but I am sure my RPM's were around 3K or so and it never went above the 14.25 reading.

Thanks for the reply

MK, I did check out the PM from Dawg and am very grateful for the diagnostic info but I still don't know if I should just pull harder on the plug to remove it to test my VR.

I guess I should have given more info in my first post but it is kind of a long story. I had starter/solenoid problems a month ago. They were replaced. I had a load test on the battery - it is good. I was out riding last Friday and my RPMs would drop as I came to a stop and I had to feather the throttle to keep it from stalling. This happened months ago and I pulled the ac and cleaned the IAC hole that I learned from a thread by iClick. It worked back then. I did the same procedure after I returned and also changed my primary fluid (because it was time to do it). I noticed a peculiar smell in the fluid, but not a God-awful smell that i have read about when your stator takes a crap (although I realize this is very subjective). On Saturday when I went out riding, the bike still would idle low and stall out when coming to a stop. I saw the security red key indicator on my speedo and checked my codes. In addition to the p0563 & b0563 it threw the codes of b1123 & b1124 which is left & right turn signal short to ground. I really don't know what is going on, and I am certainly not very adept at mechanical/electrical problem solving, but i am still reeling from the bill I received for the starter/solenoid problem around Thanksgiving and would like to try to not involve the dealer. I hope this explains my situation and I apologize for the length, but if you or anyone has any suggestions for a dummy I am all ears. Thanks.

Can anyone tell me that if I have a temporary short to ground on both turn signals that it could possibly make my voltage regulator screw up and send higher than normal voltage to my battery? Could this be the reason I got the p0563 & b0563 codes?

Although I have not been out for a ride, I started and ran the bike after I cleared the codes and non reappeared.

Thanks
