Default 2009 Ultra questions

Thanks to all in advance for any help you can provide.

3 questions -

First - with an '09 Ultra do I need to worry about the cam tensioners? I just turned 30K miles.

Second - All I've done so far towards improving performance is add some Rush slip-ons and the bike runs pretty good - much better it seems than the '07 Ultra I had before. My question is would it make a rel big difference if I added a PC-V and a Big sucker breather? Also, does anyone know if this would adversely affect my gas mileage to any degree? I'm getting mid-40's now.

Third - I've taken off the TP to reduce the weight a little(I'm almost a geezer) and according to the specs the bike weighs(with the TP on the bike) 890 pounds dry. My buddy just bought a 2012 Ultra Limited and it specs out at 901 pounds wet. How can this be? My dealer couldn't explain why a 2012 is ~35 pounds lighter than an '09.

Thanks again,
R0ckie

1.) different system than the earlier twin cams, i hope more durable- I have an 09

2.) the ness big sucker is a tidy install- ebay seller easternpc, under $120 shipped
b.) I didn't add a tuner, went with nightrider.com xieds to very good result- $125

my mileage measured over thousands of miles dropped from 44 to 43 mpg my usual 65~75 2 lane road touring.

the pcv does more, maybe does it better- i have seen just crap results on other bikes with power commanders- i am very unlikely to use their stuff on my bikes

3.) could be different wheels, also a different electrical control system is now used which may allow them to use less or light gauge wiring- it all adds up.
also the limited comes with the t/p rack standard equipment.

Your 09 has the hydraulic tensioners...should be barely worn at 30k.

I took a peek at mine at 50k and looked almost new.

On my 09 Ultra I added Rush slip-ons first also, then added a Big Sucker and a TTS, really woke it up a lot!

Does one of the bikes have ABS and the other not?

One year ago this week, I had V&H MO's and SEPST put on my 09 UC after riding for 2 years with just the SE air cleaner and 1st download. The change was incredible! Gas mileage went from mid 30's to 40 mpg for daily riding. Made 6th gear useable for everyday trips, not just highway. This is what my bike should have been on Day One. I've got about half the miles you do, but rode more this year than previous years, just because it's so much more fun to ride. Could a PCV do the same? Maybe. But I know what the SEPST did for me! And with the Smart Tune feature, I can tweek the map if the need arises.

Good luck with your project.
