StreetGlide, Should I?? What Year?
The difference is not in any 1 area, it's the entire thing.
1..The frame is better, the wiggle when pushed in corners is much less. The bike plain and simple feels more stable.
2..the fatter rear tires looks much better. As does the whole tail section. The older models look small.
3..the Brembo brakes are a night and day difference.
4..ABS is just plain smart.
5..6 gallon tank is a good thing.
6..08's and earlier are worth less and always will be now that the new ones are out.
7..06's are even worse. 88" 5 speed and half are carb'd.
Some people will nay say till the cows come home, most of them would rather drive a 86 chevy pick up rather than a new diesel. Technology can be hard to accept.
IMO, prices even, you'd take the 09-up all day long.
09 and up would be the way I would go. There are other things (as others have mentioned) bigger rear tire, resale value, etc…
I would look at selling your current bike outright; you should still be able to get a better deal than what the trade-in value would be. Trading-in is the easy way to go but you will most likely get ripped off. Also, look for a good used 09 – 11 SG, there are a bunch of good deals out there. Buying new is always nice, but, you will be paying for all the extra markups, prep, taxes, etc. BL, shop around and be smart with the sell and purchase.
is, it has trrottle cables and I understand them and I love there simplisity.
They are also lighter weight and easyer in towns to get around on

2011 Denim Black, ABS, sec and cruise. $20,800 and that included the prep/doc fee. No TTL on that price.
Had a 2011 denim, loaded, didnt say if it was 96" or 103" with less than 3k on it for $19k
2010 denim black with a small red pinstripe, 96" with 3300 miles for $18k
He told me on the phone that he thought he could give me $9K for my bike......I said "I could probably stay there all day bustin your ***** and get $9500 huh?" He told me yeah I bet so come see me. Right now is not the time to be selling a bike, buddy of mine sold his 06 Nighttrain that was TRICKED out, 96" engine with less miles than mine on eBay for $9100 bucks!! That was in the fall. I dont have the patience to fool with selling it outright. If I trade it in I will be $500 ahead due to taxes. So $9500 from dealer is like $10K from dealer. I would be happy with that.

Get a written quote for your old bike from any dealer that will give you one, doesn't matter what kind of bike you may be trading for, and use that as leverage to up the trade-in for the bike you want. Worked for me.
