I would like to add cruise control to my '06 SG but as most know it's almost impossible to find the proper kit for the older models.
Does anyone know where I can find a kit? Any idea's are welcome.
I think I might have seen a used one for sale over at Ebay. I have been looking for a part and I know I saw one for a older bike. Also, someone posted some time ago about a company that makes cruise controls for older bikes. Try using the search function to try and find it.
Thanks "Classic 53", I checked Ebay and didn't see any for sale but I did find an old thread on this site with a link to a company that puts them together, only problem, they wanted about $500 which is too high.
I'm thinking of calling HD and complaining (for whatever good that will do) they should have parts available for a bike as new as an '06.
I found mine using the state by state search on craigslist. The guy was nice enough to take paypal AND ship it. Somebody upstairs really liked me that day. From what I hear you can still piece one together but it gets real expensive real quick.

By Law, any Manufacturer is required to suppy parts for 5 years after production stops. They can make parts obsolete earlier if the replacement parts will still work. But after 5 years, they can just stop production and sell what is left. I'm sure that they are trying to get everyone to purchase newer models.
I called HD asking for assistance with this matter and all I got was "sorry, can't help you, the kit is obsolete. You'll have to build your own which requires wire by wire and switch by switch" and of cousre the expense will be doubled. They wouldn't even supply the part numbers and this was at tier two level.
I love their bikes but the customer service for this company really sucks! They have only one care in mind, $$$$$$$!
If you search the web it becomes obvious that I am not the only person looking for this kit. There exists, an aftermarket company that has realized demand for this product and proceeded to build these kits and sell them at a much inflated cost of around $800. Supply in demand!
Oh well, I guess that's it for me, at this point it appears my SG will never get Cruise Control! LOL!
BTW, the part #'s listed in the installation instructions are no longer valid.
