I bought one for me and one for my buddy. His went out first but there's a little bulb in the center of the light that went grey and smoked out after it flickered. Mine was low beam only and they wouldn't pass it for inspection so I had the stocker with me and put it back in at the dealer.

The new led light just looks badass. I'm gonna get the jw speaker version of it though.

4300K is yellowish.
So its been a while since you bought the kit, how do you like the results?

So i got the DDM H4 hi/lo ran power and ground to the relay under the tank. the problem i am having is that i turn the bike on the headlight comes on and then i start the bike and it will not restart the bulb. But if i switch it to hi then turn the bike on and start it the bike does not turn the bulb off. once the bike is running i can switch it back to low. will this damage the kit and is there a way around this.

I have since removed my HID kit and put an LED JWSpeaker light in. 10000000x better than my HID

They say to hook it direct to battery. I have the kit this way and never had an issue for o er a year now. Dont know what relay your talking about but there may be too much resistance in that circuit to rjn it properly.

I had the same issue the ballast would sense too little juice when cranking the starter and cut the headlight off a real pain in the *** and the reason I didn't go with HID on my new bike... I was wired straight to the battery too.

I had the same problem. About every other time I started the bike the light would turn off. HID's draw the most power on startup, once running they draw way less than a halogen. Also run cooler and last way longer.
Ordered a 10 second delay relay harness from "Retro-Solutions". Cost me $27.00 and works flawlessly.
With the harness you get the benefit of having your Ballast draw straight from the battery, not the Harley light plug, and also, it gets full power on startup because the bikes already running when it fires. Apparently, this is good for the ballast life since it doesn't re-fire.
I've done some research on this since I was getting tired of not knowing whether my light was on or off. Its pretty clear all motorcycle HID kits should include this delay harness in their kits since we can't shut our lights off.
I ran the DDM 35 watt low and 55 watt high in the HD Dual Lamp headlight(Headlamp Kit- 67700032). Both 5000k. It is ridiculous bright and really looks awesome! I don't think I will need the high beam any time soon buts it nice to know when I do I'll be unleashing the power of the sun !
Several riders in my group are planning on doing the same upgrade after seeing mine in action.

Default still in use?

I know this is an old thread, but are any of you still using the HID kits?

I want to improve the forward lighting on my 08 SG but led lighting is still awful expensive.
