Just curious guys, Looking into some new pipes for the street glide. Since I started riding Ive always been kind of steered away by friends and such from getting slip ons. Is it really going to do much for me putting out the extra money for the full set over getting a nice set of slip ons? Some of the sets Ive seen look really nice, so im considering it.
The complete set is going to be lighter and flow better. Not sure what year Glide you have but you may also be able to get rid of the catalytic converter as well. All of those are good reasons to go with the full set.
For me it came down to the dollars.
$260 for the Nightstick slip-on; $700 for the SuperTrapp 2:1 exhaust system. That 700 bucks does buy a great system, without a catalytic converter, but it is more than I had to spend.
At the end of the day, I'm very happy with the Nightstick slip-on.
Im not exactly technically inclined when it comes to the motor and such, what benefit will I get from getting rid of the catalytic converter?
Incredibly less hot! It'll also breathe better and allow your engine to operate better without throwing so much heat off the engine and onto your legs. These engines need unrestricted air to operate well. Look around and do a search on here to find out more about it. I just gutted my cat and learned how to do it on here. I think once you remove your cat, you'll be pleased with the results.
