i have a road glide and an ultra, and have been riding since the early 70s. the difference between the 2 are negligible in my opinion.each one has its nuances.i enjoy them equally.
the bikes weigh within 18 pounds of each other RG the lesser one. I agree i can't imagine that much of a difference. I think it comes down to which fairing you like. I like them both.
I love then both! I had an 08 SG in between an 02 RG and my current 2011 RG. my Sg was set up like Drukenfu's above... There is no question that the SG is sexy. The sexiest bagger out there for sure hands down in my book. For long, long rides burning miles and states I like the RG. They are both awesome machines. HD should make a detachable fairing.... As for the wind thing - no question the RG is affected less. You can pass a truck on the highway at 85 MPH no handed on the RG. Both great machines.
Why dont you try and contribute something valuable to the question. You must wear those panties because you obviously have never put a pair of man pants on and took a test ride on a RG.
I used to love the street glide and still do like the LOOKS of them. But then I rode one home down interstate 80 mph into a 35 mph headwind. I decided that day that I would NEVER own a SG. I bought a 2010 RGC and have never looked back. I have SG friends that have ridden my bike and have been very impressed. But like drukanfu they just cant man up and make the purchase. Must be spending too much money on those Designer panties
