This is my fist Harley.
I have had 6 bikes in the past 10 years figuring out what I want, and the truth is I want all of them LOL.

Last September I decided I was going to get a Harley and after doing research on the web and going to my local dealer the SG was what I wanted.

I have had fixed fairing bike such as the 2005 GoldWing, 2008 Concours14 and the 2009 Voyager.

The SG was the look I wanted and if rides great.
I am not a fair weather rider and put on 12,000-15,000 miles per year on my bike.

My next bike will probably be different but who knows what and when that will be.
I am hoping this bike lasts me a number of years and I will certainly enjoy every mile on it.

I ordered my first Harley in Septrmber of 1998. As I looked through the catalog, I stopped on the page that had the road glide. I said to myself that this must be the final year for this old fashioned looking bike. I took delivery of my Heritage Softail a few months later. Today I am awaiting the call from the dealer to let me know that my second road glide has arrived. I love the look of the batwing fairing, but will never go back after having a road glide. In addition to the handling difference, the rider position is much better. Very soon I will trade my 08 on a 12 road glide ultra and I can't wait!

Which Road Glide?
The RG Custom has exactly the same geometry as the SG. 16" rear, 18" front wheels; 1" lower in the rear, with 1" less travel in the rear shocks than exists in the Electra Glide models.
The Road Glide Ultra has the same geometry, shock travel, etc. as the E Glides.
Of course the handling is very different and effected by the frame vs fork mounted fairing. That is explained very well by the comments above.

I have a SG but never rode a RG. I keep falling in love with a RG though.

If you ride the snot out of it and consider a 500 mile ride a short trip, go with the Road Glide.

If you want to fit in at the local bar on bike night, buy the Street Glide.

i don't know if it's a typo or what, but if you look at the hd website at the specs for the rgc and the sg, it does show that the rg has more ground clearance, while at the same time, the same seat height. not exactly sure how that works since they are the same bike, just a different fairing....

Pretty simple explanation. The RGC is such an amazing bike, it defies the laws of physics! Seriously, I haven't looked at the HD web site, but have no idea why it should be different.

The reality is...you gotta be a "man" to handle a Batwing...fugly's are for the weak...

Seriously - can't go wrong w/either...I plan on test riding a SharkNose someday & who knows - might grow one me..??
