Orlando Fl to Jacksonville NC which was day one of a two day trip to NY. Took coastal roads so mileage was somewheres above 700. Had to get on I-95 3 times with the longest stretch being only 13 miles. Great trip.
My home base to Broken Hill, New South Wales, Australia-- about 650 miles in about 12 hours. There was a 170 mile stretch where we could run 85-90mph. 75% of the trip was on 2 lane heavily travelled roads.
Left on a Friday and did the reverse trip on Sunday. My head was ringing when I got back! Would do it again in a heartbeat though.
2100 miles and some change from juse outside of Charlotte NC to Pheonix AZ. It took 36 hrs. I stopped for 2 hrs in Odessa TX at 2:00 Am because of lightning and I took a 2 hr nap on a picnic table in a rest area in Tucson AZ that afternoon. I had to get to AZ in a hurry due to an illness in the family. I can make great time by myself and only gas and go stops with light snacks to keep the body fueled up. The biggest time killer is fartin around at gas stops. I also run fast enough to keep the cruise control on and butt beads and sheep skin keep you comfortable.
Got tired of Arkansas weather after spending a couple months of late winter there in 1970; when it warmed a little, took my little naked Honda 305 and wandered two lanes through southern states to the east coast, down to Miami, across to Naples (Florida), up the gulf coast a ways, and stopped in a small Florida town for a couple months and enjoyed the warm weather. Don't remember the mileage, but it was way over a thousand miles before I stopped spending all day riding. Would have given my left nut for a big Harley then; even my 883 would put that 305 to shame for comfort. This photo is in Mobile, Alabama, I think, some battleship and sub on display. I think this was my only ride over two days, though I did several two day trips. I don't remember how many days this trip took, had no particular destination, time didn't matter.
Well, when I got out of high school, in67, in Teheran Iran , I rode with a friend from Teheran, to the Turkish border, at Tabriz, then down the valley below Mount ararat, to ezerum, up over the mountains to Trabson, down the black sea to ezerum, then inland to ankara, and istanbul....then across bulgaria, yugoslavia, austria,, drank some beer in Munich, then on to luxembourg, and took a a boeing dc 6 home to the us...went back in 71 and bought a Norton Commando in london and spent 3 months riding from london to paris, kitzbuhl, amsterdam, etc.....now usually i just ride to the health club...roads are boring in texas..first trip on a two stroke yamaha, almost killed the bike, by the way...but it made it.....
1032 miles 22 hours from the Eastern Shore of MD to Western MD South through VA East across VA back to the Eastern Shore. Was about 105* heading East through VA back to the Eastern Shore.
