My wife started out on a 2010 Honda Shadow Phantom 750. She had never ridden any type of motorcycle prior to taking the HD riders course. She rode the Phantom 10K miles in one year and traded it in on a 2011 Street Glide. She has over 5000 miles on the Street Glide already.
My wife took the course. started on the BMW r60/6, then started riding the FXR while i'd ride the panhead or bagger.
One day we came home and she told me she just found it too much work, apprehension.
She sometimes rides the Trail 90 around the neighborhood or when camping.
But she is done with big bikes and traffic, it just wasn't fun.
And i think this is a common story- so start her off cheap. That's what the Honda Rebel is for.
And the rider course is a must, it's important that she learn correctly and not pick up our bad habits.
My BMW came cheap from a guy who thought he would take to it, and didn't.
