A friend of mine wants to sell his 2011 street glide 103", abs, sec and cruise.
480 miles, 1 year left on the warranty.
Bike is sedona orange and all stock.
I offered him 17,5 he wants to hold out for 18,5 what do ya all think?
look at the trade in value and the retail value- offer him the trade in value + 30% of the difference between the trade in/retail.
1.) with your money you could buy a bike exactly what you want model/color/add ons etc. ( and if from a dealer, you have recourse if there is a problem)
2.) if he made a poor decision, he knows it's going to cost him to get out from under it. he shouldn't expect you to pay for his mistake

A real friend wouldnt try n dry hump ya over a grand....Id walk away on friggin principal. I would also with respect to the friend, unless thats a pay off figure and is exactly whats needed to get the bank off the note, seriously rethink the nature of your association.
I would buy my bike from a dealer If I wanted to get screwed over a grand.
ask him what his payoff is. if he is free and clear ask him to split difference, if he wants to hold out, let him. money can devide friends. but that being said I would never sell my bike to someone I know. I sell **** in different towns for that reason. I hate seeing my work driving around.
I paid $17,800.00 OTD last October for my 2011 SG 103, abs, sec cruise Merlot Sunglo. It had over 10K miles and I LOVE IT!!!

Either price is fair, does he still owe 18.5 on the bike? I have found this to be a problem for me in the past.
Of course you couldn't buy one off a dealer for 18k, I'm just sayin'.
For that much go & buy a brand new one then ride over to his place & rub it in his face. He will be waiting a long time trying to get that money from a private sale. Most people don't have that cash laying around & a bank will not loan the full amount.
