Saturday started on the fuel tank, got it sanded with 320, and found a bunch of rock chips and two small dents. I used Blazer Glaze to fill the chips and skim the small dents. It sets up in 10 minutes and sands very smooth.

Then I decided to make a stand to hold the tank in the booth. I have about 4 of the cheap utility roller stands from harbor freight, I think I paid $12.00 each on sale a couple of years ago. First I removed the roller, then I found some square tubing that fit over tubing of the stand. Then cut a piece about 5" long and welded a piece of thin steel plate on top of it with a couple of holes drilled in it to allow me to lag a 2x4 on to it. I drilled a 24" long piece to fit the 3 tank mounting points then attached it to the stand.

Here is the tank mounted on the stand and ready for primer.

I also finished the outer fairing and sanded it with 320.

Into the booth and three coats of Transtar 2K urethane primer surfacer. It will be ready for sanding first thing Sunday morning.

If all goes well I'll get the outer fairing and tank green tomorrow and back on the bike to start figuring out the taping scheme. Not sure If I'll have time to actually get them in silver and black. Stay tuned. Same Bat time, same Bat channel.....

Not only that I ride to work at 5:30 in the morning and the more light the better. Not sure if it is legal but would love to have them stay on with the brights on.
Easy enough to wire them in, but depending on amp draw, you could have trouble with wire, switches, fuse, and even alternator. I've felt wires get pretty hot when another set of lights was added and had to replace them with heavier gauge; I used to know how to figure this stuff, but would have to research it now. Should all be on the internet.

Time for some thoughts on the rear fender. I don't like the stock wide turn signals. Wondering about using the Street Glide bottom tri lite and filler panels, or a Bad Dads rear fender.

I have those lights. They are only running lights. I replaced mine with a stop and running light. As Wally has said the more the lights the better. When I hit the brakes my *** lights up like a red Christmas tree.

I bought a complete Street Glide rear fender, turnsignals, tailight assembly off of a fella's 07 SG for my Road Glide. I got the complete set up for like $250, If you could find one of these, it would look great in green.

Been keeping tabs on your build. Great Job! I have to get to get my a** out to my garage. Since your going with the Profile Spokes have you thought of going larger? I have a 17" on mine. It lightens the front end look.I would like to get a 18" from a 2011-2012, but the one's I have seen are to much $. Keep up the good work

I'd love to find an 18" Profile, it would help fill in the lowered front fender. I keep watching craigslist and eBay. I've got time to wait, could be part of next winters upgrades....

Got out to the shop and did the finish sanding on the outer fairing and tank. Wiped everything down, and laid down 1 wet coat of grey sealer.

Let it set for 20" then laid down 3 coats of Diamond Black, 10" between coats.

While I was waiting between coats I started working on the bags. I really hated to take of the Hoka Hey stickers. Maybe I'll have a chance to ride one myself...

Hopefully this week I'll be home a little more than normal and get the tank, outer fairing and bags mocked up so I can lay out the paint scheme.

Holy **** Batman I remember you talking about the Hoka Hey challenge and went to their web site. Wow what a dream, that has to go in my bucket list. Would love to do that. Unbelievable, would be fun to do a part of it anyways.
