Holy **** Batman I remember you talking about the Hoka Hey challenge and went to their web site. Wow what a dream, that has to go in my bucket list. Would love to do that. Unbelievable, would be fun to do a part of it anyways.
"The Hoka Hey Challenge 2011 was a great success with the World’s Top Riders competing in a 14,000 mile cross country event. The course took them through 48 states and 2 Canadian Provinces. This year, the route left the Challengers little time to ride without either navigating the many different roads on the route or, riding through the technically thrilling course that took a great deal of concentration. Again this year, the Challengers were taken through some of the most scenic highways and byways in America and eastern Canada. This year an unexpected visit by Hurricane Irene made things even more interesting!"
Talk about dedication, I believe this years winner was a private jet pilot. He would ride about 21 hours, then pull over to the side of the road, unroll his sleeping bag, rest for about 3 hours and get up and ride again. Incredible. Here's the link for those that have not visited the site.
This year only 6,000 miles. Las Vegas to New York, starting on August 5th.
On my way out of town, but thought I'd take a few minutes to put the tank and fairing on. That way I'll be ready to start laying out lines when I get back.
+2 on putting Hoka Hey Challenge on the bucket list, at least giving it a try. I also read the article on the guy that won it, i believe i read it in HOG magazine. I think it would be something you would remember the rest of your life.
Easy enough to wire them in, but depending on amp draw, you could have trouble with wire, switches, fuse, and even alternator. I've felt wires get pretty hot when another set of lights was added and had to replace them with heavier gauge; I used to know how to figure this stuff, but would have to research it now. Should all be on the internet.
Harley just started selling a plug and play harness that gives you independent control of the passing lamps whether on high or low beam and its 29.99 I think.
