Yup - that helped! And the other guy who suggested behind the wiring harness. Just went out an looked at it.
It seems, that there is the big wiring harness, then there is a much smaller conduit behind it. I pulled the main harness back, and saw nothing. A little more digging, and move that little harness - there's the VIN, right along the spine near the neck. Problem was, that smaller harness is just about the exact same thickness has the height of the characters in the VIN.
Ive seen dumb stunts pulled by peeps before that likely coulda been avoided if they woulda just asked a question....so, i would much rather hear a dumb question then have to shake my head in disbelief......ask the questions people!

I knew I was just being dumb.
Thanks folks!
Is it the same as on your title?! We can all rest easy knowing you now know where it is, but we'll be even happier when you have checked.....
It must always be stamped on the neck of a motorcycle from the factory. Does it have a salvaged title? If so they order a new frame and put all parts on it from a wrecked bike. They also put all parts from a stolen bike onto a salvage frame. Does the sticker show the beginning of the VIN or the end of the VIN? If it is showing the last 6 numbers and they match you should be ok. If it is showing the beginning numbers well every bike of that model, color, year, matches. Get your engine number and the vin number shown on paper work and see if H-D will match it for you.
