Took a look @ my J&S to see my floor jack could raise it up to release the locks & lower - my back-up plan is in place. Hope I never have to initiate it though...glad you got your down.

Just FYI to the OP. I bought a used J&S from a local guy by me and had the bottle jack go bad. Contacted J&S and told them the jack was bought used, gave them the serial number on the plate of the jack. They sent out a new bottle jack at no charge. Told me to sh*t can the old one. Great company, they stood behind a knowingly second hand purchased jack without question. Be upfront with them, you may be surprised. I got the feeling they had a run of bad bottle jack's from their supplier. Good luck, and glad you got the bike back down without incident.

Figger out some way to get a small amount of jack oil into it. Remove the rubber plug and use a small diameter tube. An eye dropper. Call J&S and you will see they are about the best in customer relations. Then order a new jack from them. Doubt a repair kit for seals is available. I just add oil to mine as needed & plan on getting a new jack from them sometime. I do think they will help with the problem. I am gonna contact them about mine, sometime........

I got some Bars Leak hydraulic jack oil and was amazed at how much oil it took. It is working good now, but I think I am going to contact the company about a new bottle jack. Someone posted earlier and said they are only $35 and that seems like it would be good peace of mind.
