Question Fuel Pack

Got a Q, I put Vance & Hines slip-ons on my 08 ultra classic, Harley recommended I get fuel pack so I did. I put a K&N high flow breather on it also. Now, I called Harley to find out if they knew the code for true dauls for fuel pack and the dude told me to get fuel pack off asap. Use their download for the true duals and pipes. He said if it burns my ECU then it will not be coverd under the warranty, The other guy who sold me the slip ons AT HARLEY said to get fuel pack and it will not void my warranty. Witch one of these guys is right? The one who wants to sell me the high price download or the one that sold me the slip-ons in the first place? I hate dealing with Harley sometimes, all they want is to sell you their high dollar ****. HELP.

First of all, go to the Vance and Hines web page and look up the proper settings for your set up. http://www.fuelpakfi.com/ Also, if you are confused on the proper settings, just call Vance & Hines directly and they will walk you through the setup. I have done this before and had very good service.

According to the law as I understand it, a dealership would have to PROVE that the after market add on CAUSED the failure. Its not automatically up to the dealership to void a warranty without proof. This is pretty well documented here on this forum. Also, keep in mind, that Vance & Hines would most likely help you in the event the dealership blamed a Vance & Hines produce for a failure, at least I would hope so.

Any mod that you do to your bike that is not factory street legal HD parts could possibly void the warranty, but the Dealer has to prove that the failure was directly due to the mod or the install of the part.

Most Dealers are reasonable and will work with owners, some are dicks and anything not stock that y will try to blame for not covering warranty.

If your going to the same dealer and getting 2 very different answers, either find a better dealer or at least go to the manager and see what his answer is so that later if you need warranty work you wont be in for a fight that you did not expect.

I have a Fuel Pak on my bike and it does not change anything in the ECM, it just alters the signal (I think). If you unplug it, the computer is right back to normal. It actually is a very good, economical device for an exhaust and intake change.

My brother bought a new 2006 Night train, the dealer installed V&H pipes and a fuel pak before he took delivery. If a HD dealer installs it how could it void anything. He has all the paper work showing they did it.

Ive had the fuel pak for 20k miles and counting without any problems. Of course any warranty work the was done to the bike wasnt motor related. the fuel pak works really well with only ac and exhaust work. I have dealt with V&H a few times and theyve always been great. The dealers are dicks sometimes and i doubt youll have any problems with the fuel pak.

Had a older style (red, yellow and green LED's and tunable pots) Fuelpac on my
'99 Roadking for almost 90,000 miles without any problems.
So I installed the newest one, along with cutting out the cat, replacing the stock mufflers, and the stock air cleaner on my 2010 Ultra Limited two years ago. 15,000 miles later and no problems and happy with how the Fuelpac has cooled the motor down, still gets 40 plus MPG, Idles, runs, and pulls strong, without paying someone else $500 to tune my bike.

Been running the FP for over a year and 10K miles without a problem, bike runs great with V&H True Duals and Monster Rounds. Just remember to check their website for the most current program codes before using the book values.

It's convenient to know that by not reprogramming the stock ECM and you decide to sell/trade your bike you can unplug it, put the stockers back on, and get some money back on EBAY. The only downside is you theoretically can't use it with other manufacturers hardware (unless V&H can give you a code) and you can't fine tune it like a programmable tuner.
