I have this lift and it works great. it is a little difficult to get the hang of at first but after a few lifts it is pretty easy. I store it with the legs under my roll around bottom tool box from the end and it is out of the way. I pulled the complete front end off the bike and it remained stable with the weight change. Lifts higher than I needed to stand up for the whole job. Tire changing is a piece of cake. Be sure and use the 20% off coupon offered in their adds $159 you can't go wrong. One day I will buy a table lift to imbed/flush mount in my floor but will keep this to work on the bike in the driveway when it is nice out.

I understand the temptation to buy something inexpensive, at first I did, and I regretted it. After having a cheap Chinese lift, I went with J&S. It is a day and night difference and it does not take up much space.

For that money I agree; get the J&S. I personally have the HF yellow 1500 lb jack that you can buy for $59.95 (check for coupons in the ads in most motorcycle mags) and it works great

I've had HF's yellow jack for five years and it still works great.

I would tend to agree with the premise that if you are going to spend a couple bills to buy something better than HF.

The OP asked if the HF lift worked ok and the answer is yes. At 30" it lifts higher than the Sears (16"),yellow HF (16"), or the J&S (18") lift so you can change tires. This is not so easy on the table lifts that require another jack costing over $100 and the HF table needs a better wheel chock IMO, another $100. The J&S is a very nice jack and from reading other posts on this forum I think it is well built but it is $420 shipped and I don't use mine enough to justify the additional $270. Other jacks in this price range have 4 wheels to move bike around while lifted. I think if I was spending that much I would go for the moving feature.JMO

A table doesn't take up any more room than the bike, if you park on it. The jack takes up a bunch of space. Something to think about if you really prefer to get a table........
