Has anyone out there used either the Kuryakyn Hi-Five Mach II (wire mesh style) or the Performance Machines wire mesh style air cleaners with any success? Notice any performance enhancement or affects on riding comfort (right thigh)?
It looks like alot more air would get in with these compared to my Stage I with the football cover. Or probably only the dyno could tell the difference is my guess.
almost every air cleaner out there will out flow the motor's demands.
the exceptions being the stock ( noise emissions control), "hype-charger" ( crap design for "fashion") and no air cleaner at all ( the air is unordered and turbulent).
So if you change from an S/E it'll be more looks than function
If it starts with a "K", it may not be worth having on your bike. shiny junk

Point well taken! Yeah the price of some of these is incredible. I was also wondering about the SE Ventilator cleaner/cover. It looks like more air would make its way in AND the slimmer design MIGHT be more comfortable on the right leg. It is also cheaper than the other two I mentioned.
Ventilator, still more air than the motor could ever pull- slimmer is good if you feel the knee is pushed out.
however the ventilator will expose the UGLY plastic plug and wire harness at the 9 o'clock of the intake.
there are covers for that, but they are equally ugly.
once you see the plug, you can't unsee it.
...and I notice that MANY photos for aftermarket breathers are taken from an angle so as to hide the plug.
have a look at yours.
really the breather you have is all you need- if you change it it'll be looks not function

That is exactly what I do not want to do, spend alot of money for an upgrade that really does not have a more measurable increase in performance. Yup, think I'll stick with the Stage I with my football cover, which is black to match the bike anyway!! Thanks for the comments!
Liked the looks of the K with the K&N filter. Cost was $149. Yea, not to bad. Then I found out that I had to buy another cover, top chrome piece and two bolts for $10 dollars each. Well it looks good, but it cost me over $300.
I just installed the vance and hines vo2 naked the other day and have put about 500 miles on it. Works like a charm and was only $112 from direct harley parts. First time ive ordered from them and will definitely be doing more shopping there.

Hey I like the looks, but dang, $300 stings a little.
