Default rinehart slipns

I have 08 Street Glide im looking at 3.5 rinehart slipons is the 4s better or worse and with the slip ons do you have to retune and change breather on the bike(Ive heard yes and no from dealers so im confussed) . I am 1/2 way mechanically inclined and can add slip ons myself but if needing dealer enhancement I may be better off letting them do it all Thanks

J,

First, there are a ton of threads on here about this so do a search and you'll have plenty to read for a few nights.

Second, I've had both the Rinehart 3.5s and the 4s. My 3.5 were slightly louder but my 4s have a deeper tone. I sold the 3.5s to get the 4s. I prefer the 4s and I'm very happy with them.

As far as needing to add a breather or get the bike retuned, I don't think you NEED to do either. Wait for someone else to chime in and confirm this but I believe the EFI engine is able to adjust to new slip ons without needing a full tune. The breather is totally optional and up to you.

BTW, welcome to the forum!

jhelms, welcome aboard, did the same as Fender, went from the 3.5" to 4", loved them both, no need to have the EFI remapped

The 4's are great! I have them and love the deep sound that they have. I was at the dealer yesterday, and the parts guy wanted to hear them. I took him outside and he loved them! He said he could feel them shake the ground when I revved it up. The 211 cams kinda help the sound too. He bought his today as a matter of fact. I sold a parts man at a Harley shop on them! Sure wish I was getting his money rather than the dealer.. A box end wrench and about 10 min's and you'll have them on. It's NOT a dealer job by no means. Just the slip on's, you will not need a tune at all. If you add an air filter (SE for example) then you'll need some kinda tune. 150 dollar down load or a tuner. I got the down load because at the time I didn't have the money or knowledge about tuners. I do now, and it will be on shortly. Go for it! You will be happy with the 4's I am sure.

Really like the look and sound of the 4's, but have read a number of threads here that talk about quality control issues ( rattling, etc..). Also read about a "kit" that RH makes to take care of that. Has this issue imporved recently or have recently purchased slip ons seen the same. Would really like to go with the RH's, but looking at the VandH Monster Ovals to get dead on quality. Thanks

I have read about rattling issues too, but it was after I had bought them...Soooooo, alitttle to late for concern at the time. No problems yet on mine. I have about 15,000 miles on them. I have also read on here that Rinehart has taken care of people that had this problem. You have to keep in mind that alot of people read and comment on this forum. So you will have all kinds of pro's and con's for most everything. Most of them personal opinions and first hand experiences. I tend to read to much, and really confuse myself! Good luck.

I did exactly the opposite. It's a very subjective thing. I really like the 3.5" better and replaced my 4s with the 3.5" I had them both at the same time and switched back and forth until I made the decision. I'm sure everybody's ride is different but the 4s didn't feel as good "seat of the pants" as the 3.5" to me. I think you'll be happy with either.
