Question Elite 3 tire question

So I need a new rear tire. I have a 2 yr old new tire on the front when I purchased the bike 2 yrs ago. So that one it not needed. I would like to switch to the Dunlop E-3 but cant seem to find it on a slim whitewall to match. Unless they are not made with the whitewalls on that tire. Also it is not the same size and I was wondering if it will still fit. SO if I go with the E-3 I would have a slim whitewall on the front and black wall on the rear. Im not sure how that would look. And I sure do hate cleaning the rear whitewall. The clearance is also my question as it shows a different size on the charts and the Dunlop website only list the D402's. Then I would switch to the blackwall when the front is due to match. Otherwise I may just stick with the old D402 on the back. thanks Jeff

The E3 only comes in black wall. I personally would just change both back and the front. The ride and performance so superior compared to the 402's. I would not like the look of a narrow white wall in front and a black rear.

Your rear tire should be the MU90HB-16 it is comparible to the 140 width. I'm on my second one of this size. Love the ride, love the longevity.

Dennis Kirk has them in stock for $123

The MT90B-16 front and MU90B-16 should swap out easily for your stock 402's. The E3 only comes in a black wall.

Just out of curiosity, how is the wet weather performance on the E3's? I have the 402s and they suck in the rain - feel like the bike doesn't have good footing.

They handle amazingly well. Since when does it rain in TX?

I had the E-3's on my 05 Ultra. wet performance was great. I rode it from MA to DC in torrential rain and the bike felt solid. Cars were pulling off in the breakdown lane on the NJ turnpike it was raining so hard.

Cool

in wet weather it depends on how eggressive you ride. I know some that donot like the E3 in the rain. I myself don't notice a defference between the two in the rain but the E3 does last longer. can you even see the white wall on the rear.

I rode with a E3 on the back and a slim white OEM on the front for a while. As far as looks.... can't see it while riding it. Really can't see the rear anyway.

I was getting 5000 mi. from the rear 402 and 9000 from the E-3. They handle the grooves and tar snakes WAY better than OEM. Changing the rear made the most difference in handling.

Thumbs up

Thanks for the replies, I am really leaning towards the E-3 now. If I am correct the ones for my bike ate MU90B-16 rear and MT 90B-16 front. I agree the the amount of whitewall that shows on the back is minimal. I clean it and it is a pain in the neck. I just cant see chucking out the front so early yet until I need it replaced. Then I'll get the E-3 for the front as well. I just was not sure how much you notice the stripe on the back. I checked Dennis Kirk 109.99 for the tire + 5.00 shipping i guess. I called my no Sponsoring dealer and they said they could install in 89 bucks + tax. No problem bringing in my own tire for the job. Looks like my decision has been made. I will replace the front with the same after it wears down some more then Ill have both E-3 on the bike. Thanks for all the help guys. Jeff

OP don't mean to hijack your thread and this might be a stupid question:
I was wondering if the E3 MU90B-16 rear and E3 MT 90B-16 front are much taller than the 402s?
Being as i am verticaly challenged i am barley flat footing it , any opinions internet experts?
