Default 06 Road King, What do I need to know?

Possibly looking at a 06 Classic, has 13,000 miles on it. Doubt it has cruise on it, Does HD make the parts for it? Is there anything about this particular year that stands out as big issues? I know it doesn't have the 6 speed but is that the 88 or 96 motor? I know it still has the old touring frame as well.

I am betting that it does have cruise control. Of course there are CC parts made for it, check e-bay. Might be a little spendy though. My suggestion is to change all of the fluids to a TCLOCS Inspection on it, ride the hell out of it and enjoy.

06' have better heads, and it is an 88" motor. It is your choice, if you want it, get it, if you are thinking of a newer 1, get it. You should be happy with either. Enjoy the ride.

Seems like I have the biggest issue with thinking Im always going to short change myself. I guess Im afraid I will second guess myself after the purchase thinking I should have got this or should have got that... I tend to over think alot of trivial **** lol

Don't get paralysis by analysis. Every year has pros and cons. Find something you like and buy it. I love my '03 with the 88, 5 speed, old touring frame. Only thing I wish I had was ABS.

I have this same bike, 88"/5 speed. Love mine, bought it fall 2010 with very low miles. Has 14k miles now, wouldn't change a thing. Get it / ride it!

One more thing, mine has cruise. I think cruise was standard on an 06 RKC. Parts shouldn't be an issue.

You might want to search "cam chain tensioners" on the forum. I have an 06 and I upgraded the tensioners (cost mostly covered by the Extended Service Plan) at 27k miles. I am happy with my 06 and would buy another.

I had an '06 Road King (FLHR), not the Classic. The '06 FLHRC's had cruise control as a standard feature. I sold mine at 6,500 miles and nothing wrong with it. I saw it at 14,000 miles and still nothing wrong with it. "Cam Chain Tensioners" are the only potential issue. If you like it and it's in your price range, you shouldn't be afraid of it. Get it and ride it!
