Your going to increase the db's just taking out the Cat. There are too many variables to accurately predict what the exhaust note will sound like. Doing a stage 1 will increase fuel which always increases the db's, couple that with removing the Catalyst and its going to get louder. Too loud can only be determined by you since it's as subjective as anything else. You can even look up a video on YouTube and yours will end up sounding different.
Removing the cat changes the sound completely -- Turning the sound into "bike" instead of "Buick" - No comparison. And the bonus is you won't cook your right foot anymore.
I have a 2011 FLHX, currently running SE slipons. Not satisfied with the sound due to the cat in the header.
Been in talks with the service guys at the dealership. Got myself a pair of Rush 2.25" slipons, am getting the cat cut out and the SE pro super tuner.
Will this produce a sound close to what I was getting with me 2.0" Rush slipons on my '08 Softail Custom? Louder? Deeper?
Appreciate it!
The volume should be similar and the tone a bit deeper. It will sound different due to the headpipe differences between a Softail and a bagger but overall it will be similar.
Thanks for choosing Rush!
Ryan
Remove the cat first, then ride it a bit. You may like what you hear and not need the Rush slipon's. If you don't like it, you can always buy the Rush's and install them at a later date.
Just buy a full exhaust system. Unless your planning on not keeping the bike then it is worth every penny in sound and performance. You spent big money on the sert and won't be using to its full potential unless you put on a good exhaust like a 2-1

I second the motion.
Just do a stage one down load. If you plan on a good tuner to tune your computer on a dyno the Super Tuner is a waste. The tuned header pipe with the stage one should be all you need.

I completely agree dont waste money on rush slip ons.....you got great pipes....the cat has to go......once the cat is gone Im betting with the stage I download you will be right where u wanna be sound wise.....its amazing how much sound stays in those cats!
well poped the cherry on my 11 FLHX. Months ago i bought a take off head pipe from a guy on here for 100 bucks. A couple weeks ago i scored a set of 2010 CVO mufflers from friend at work for 75 bucks. Well i decatted the pipe via trapdoor method. Today i put it all together..and it sounds great, not to loud deeeep throaty sound and excellent throttle response noted... only ridden it to work and back but im liking it already and for 175 ima lovin it more. Now i need a turner and an air cleaner.. i like the sleeper look and would prefer a to keep the factory football but have a higher flowing breather what do you guys recommend out there?

I agree Joboo. I recently decided to change out the stock catted headpipe to Rush true duals. I loved the deep rumble that was about 2db over stock that the 4" Jackpots / cat provided, but now I think it will be far too loud for my liking. I didn't think that by going with TD the noise level would go up so much. The bike is going on the dyno for a TTS tune shortly, hopefully that will tone things down, seems to idle a bit faster, maybe my imagination.
