I need to get a detachable backrest for my 09 SG. Has anyone installed the FBI backrest relocation kit that is located here. Wanted to know how well is works with mounting and un-mounting the detachable backrest. I like the cleaner look. Any feedback would be great. Thanks!
I had it for awhile on my 09SG worked great til I wanted to mount my tour pack solo or a solo luggage rack. They will not work with anything but your passenger back rest. Plus the adapter plates that attach to your back rest aren't all that attractive or a snug fit. I ended up ditching it for the standard docking kit.
I got it on my 09 Street Glide. Works great and looks alot cleaner than the 2 pt HD docking hardware I had on. I have no issues with the side plate fitment. Looks factory on mine. I plan on buying a 4 pt to put on if I use a tour pack which is hardly ever but its only 2 bolts to take the Fat Bagger hardware off and 4 to put on the HD 4 pt. That'll take what 5 min? Well worth the clean look.

Thanks for the feedback. How difficult or accessible is it to get to the quick disconnect tabs for the backrest if you want to remove it when using the FBI relocation brackets? Same as using the standard HD mounting brackets? Thanks!
I have it on mine, just put it on. I like it, looks cleaner than the 2point kit i had on there. It works a little harder than the harley kit but i think after a little use it will be fine. I totally recomend it if you don't need the 4point kit and ride solo alot because it is not seen.
