Default Backrest and Tour Pak

I'm sure this has been talked about before but a quick answer without searching would be great!....

I have the detachable Tour-Pak installed on my "new/used" RK Custom...sometimes I'd just like to throw on just a backrest without the "trunk"...and I'm not familiar with backrest docking...so...before I go out and buy anything...

Will a backrest co-exist with detachable Tour-Pak docking gear?

Thanks in advance for any info. provided...

No, you will need the front docking kit. The first picture shows the docking hardware installed. The second picture shows both the sissy bar and the tourpak rack installed at the same time. I did that for a while until i bought my tourpak. I used the rack for my T-bag luggage. I have more pics if you need them. Also, be sure to search for the install directions for the docking kit. It is a real PITA if you don't know a few secrets.

Hmmm. My tourpack uses the very front docking point (near the shock) and the very back one. Looks like the mid one plus the front one (already there) would do a backrest.

You must have a much different detachable rack. You better get the catalog out or go to you dealer to get more info.

The old style tourpak rack used the front docking point by the shock and the rear one on the extention. The new style tp rack uses the far back one and the next one up. I have all 4 docking points on both my bikes so I can run either tp rack, a backrest, the luggage rack or the backrest and luggage rack at the same time. Put all 4 on and you can do anything!!

You will need 2 sets of docking hardware to accomodate both a tour pack and backrest. They do not use the same docking locations.
