I'm shopping for passenger backrests to fit the docking kit installed on my '01 RK. I currently only use it for the tourpack that came with the bike. It's hard to tell from pictures if the dimensions match what I have installed.
Is there only one kind of docking kit or have there been different kinds over the years?
The '09+ bikes use the 4-point hardware for everything. The '01 like yours and mine use a couple of kits depending on what accessories you're using, as many as 8 points. If you're just using a back rest, you need kit 53803-06, which gives you points 3 and 4 in the diagram

This. 1+2 are for tour pack/luggage rack, 3+4 for passenger backrest/solo tour pack
When I put on my detachable backrest and docking points, part of the parts for the docking kit were in the detachable backrest kit. I have no idea why Harley did that other than to force you to buy both parts at the same time.
