Do you still have the yellow reflector on the down tube forward of the forward cylinder by the head pipe (right side one specificlly)? I had my reflector on the right side melt all to pieces when installed the my T-Rex true duals. Have not smelled anything weird since removing that thing.
Off topic, sorry, where did you get your batwing from, Dragonfly? If so how tall is your windshield?
Batwing is from Dead Center cycles. Its detachable and lockable. Dragonfly gave me the run around with my order of the rear speaker pods! That took over a month, I'm glad that I didn't order the fairing from them! Sorry how it comes out, thats my experiance with them thats all.
Had excellent sale and support from Willem at DeadCenterCycles.
Windshield is 9", I'm 6' 3" and wanted that hight.
Is it possible that it is some sound deadener in your exhaust pipe, such as fiberglass, that only burns when at that speed. On our Ultra, when I was experimenting with inserting different baffles and fiberglass, that exhaust smellsomehow gets back to our nosesin the air turbulence at high speeds. My wife wasalways suspecting fires, especiallyafter I work on something. Another exhaust possibility is that when you are just riding around at lower speeds, your crankcase breathing system is inducing some oil in the pipes. Then when you go outon the highway and sustain high speeds, these deposits will slowly burn out and smell.
