Going to Daytona bike week in less than three weeks and am really excited. I know about The Loop in Ormond Beach, but does anyone know of any other nice ride routes? I don't really like all the bumper to bumper crap and want to spend the day riding and only go to the crowds at night. I know some of the local dealers have nice ride maps and was planning in checking them out but thought I would ask here as well.
There a site motorcycleroads.com that lets you plug in your city and gives you routes that others have posted. You can post your own routes as well to share with others.
One other thing that is cool, is if you wake up early you can see the sunrise over the ocean on the beach. Then take your time and ride West to Cedar Key which is west side of Florida. You can then see the sun set, all in one day. Kinda a romantic thing if your with your girl. Cool in any event to be able to do this in one days riding. Half way across you'll be passing through ocala and there are some great horse country routes you can enjoy getting lost on.
A!A North to St. Augustine. Spend the day in the nations oldest city. SR-40 West to Silver Springs/Ocala, or on to Cedar Key. US-1North past the White Eagle to CR-304 West to CR-305 West to US-17 North into Crescent City & find Three Bananas for lunch. SR-40 West to Fairview SW to US-19 South through Tavares to Lane Park
Rd. & the Hideaway on Lake Harris, again for lunch.
There's others, but it'd take all day. Google Earth, Mapsource (or any good map program), will show you lots of places.
Take 40 west out of Ormond Beach. Goes through the Ocala National Forest. Get a map and check it out. I ride that area a lot. Plenty of small bars and springs to visit as well.
I'll be down there as well, and I'm looking for the same type of info.
I've ridden the ormond loop and A1A up to Saint Augustine.
Sorry for the Hijack, but any info on "can't miss" roads in Ocala national forest?
Anyone ridden through the Merritt Island national wildlife refuge?
