I'm probably early to post this since I haven't tried much to correct it yet, but I'm sitting at work and it's driving me nuts, so I thought I'd throw it out here to get some input before I go at it tonight.
I had several pieces powder coated and last night was putting it back together, got front and rear blinkers and tail light on. Gave them a try (and now i realize i should try them before putting it all together) and only the left rear turn signal is working. Other 3 and tail light do not. Why? I did not have the headlight on yet...would that matter somehow? It's not like i did major electrical rewiring or anything. It was late, so I just called it a night and went to bed.
Things going through my head:
- Does the headlight need to be in??
- Did I funk it up by touching the bulbs...but that doesn't explain the tail light?
- I didn't add anymore of that "grease" that's in the turn signals....again that doesn't explain tail light?
-
This is the first time I've taken my bike apart and put back together, so I'm learning as I go. Any thoughts would be great.
Thanks,
Steve
(edit: title should be "All but 1 turn signal NOT working"

Every time Ive had TS problems its been one of 2 things , either a loose ground or a bad bulb. I had a slightly loose ground at the frame just in front of the battery that knocked out the TS made one side not work and the other would go on and then not cancel until I shut off the bike. Had a bulb on rt front go and it stopped the rt rear from working. I dont know about the circuit needing the headlamp connected but Id definitely try that first before going nuts trouble shooting.

Ahhhh...the story of my life! Headlight will not have anything to do with your turn signals and tail light problems..
Check the multi wire connector coming from under the seat, routed under the rear fender and plugging into the tail light circuit board. Unplug it and then reseat it listening for a defined 'snap' or 'click' sound. Sounds like that might be the issue.
I can get each of the blinkers to work by pushing the bulb in farther and wiggling them a bit. This, I think, is good news as it tells me the wiring isnt jacked up, right? Probably just don't have them assembled correctly. Are these safe assumptions?
However, the brake light only works when i pull the front brake. Rear brake doesn't light it. Why would this be? I didn't even do anything with the tail light or rear brake system.
On the aesthetic front....the blacked out parts look bada$$!
Check the orange/white wire. That wire powers all brake lights, turn signals, and speedometer. Try to electrically disconnecting rear brake switch. It does seem like you are missing a ground. Electrical gripes can be a pain....HTH
Here's what happened tonight. I took the front left signal off and figured that the problem was that the contacts weren't lining up with the bulb. Before I disconnected it, I noticed it was sparking a little in there. Disconnected, adjusted the white insert that holds the contacts put the bulb in and reconnected. Turned the blinkers on, it blinked twice and stopped. Think I blew a fuse as I heard a noise and saw a bad fuse. Now though, I put in a new fuse and still nothing. Not even the indicator lights up like it used to.
Is this a ground issue? I didn't even (knowingly) disconnect any grounds.
