I have 4500 miles on my 07 SE Ultra. I have absolutely no complaints about the bike. I do hear a little clunk when starting the bike but I have absolutely no noticable (unusual) noise from the primary or transmission. I did take the Syn3 out of all three holes and am running Redline (engine oil in the engine, MTL in the primary, and HD Shockproof in the tranny).

I have had the Torq Smoothing upgrade done. The bike shakes a little less at idle but that;s about it. Didn't ping before and doesn't now. I will say that the bike does not like to be lugged. I usually ride running between 3000-3500 rpms. 6th gear is almost never used (over 75mph only).

For most of my riding, I rarely get above of 4th. The bike is bone stock too.

Maybe I got lucky but it's one hell of a machine IMO.

Picked up my 07 Ultra last week (12-12) No ping, but a little whine. Converted tranny to Amsoil, 623 miles, and loving every mile.

I realize many here have heard enough on this 07 subject and those of you w/o the clatter noise are the lucky ones believe me.Whether its something bad or not,its annoying even after bike has been upgraded. The more owners that have come to the end of the line with trying to get any dealer or MOCO to honestly go after this noise, the more ranting thats going to be heard on these sites. There has been no customer satisfaction on this gripe and I blame most of it on HDs C/S.They have a way of sending these owners over the edge. The new releases dont seem to have this problem-case in point,by top thread post-so Hd has done something to fix this clatter. All these guys want is the same.Hd shouldve done something earlier even if it was a verbal reply, but they chose not to.Maybe HD will wise up next year.Good luck.

As far as the ping and over heating complaints are concerned more of us should have written letters while we had the chance to change the new tighter EPA regulations. I bought an 07 knowing I'd have to add a PCIII. This is just a fact of life most of us who have ridden Harley's for 30 plus years understand if we want to ride an air cooled Harley vaguely similar tothe onesour Dad's rode, if not buy a water cooled V-rod. As far as the tranny noise and engine noise is concerned, keep those RPM'S up, quit lugging your engines. Most of the complaints Ive heard seem to come from 1st timers who should have bought an import to match their imported four wheelers.

I used to complain about the pinging, but I was use to riding an 88 5 speed, the 96 6 speed needs more rpms..
Power bands changed, shift points changed, but when I got used to it, the level of fun really changed...
And I patiently waited for the letter from HD, got the re-map, and everything is great....

The more you ride it the better it gets...

Stop the bitching and get to living...

I am one proud Harley-Davidson Owner!

And every time someone say's " Beautiful Bike " Makes me that much prouder..
