I used to complain about the pinging, but I was use to riding an 88 5 speed, the 96 6 speed needs more rpms..
Power bands changed, shift points changed, but when I got used to it, the level of fun really changed...
And I patiently waited for the letter from HD, got the re-map, and everything is great....

The more you ride it the better it gets...

Stop the bitching and get to living...

And every time someone say's " Beautiful Bike " Makes me that much prouder..

This thing about heli cut gear and strait cut gears... Harley sells a SE 6 Speed Upgrade Trans...
And there ALL STRAIT CUT GEARS... Has anyone bought one? Any Noise?

If not, how is it the Cruse Drive trans does, and if the SE trans does, why would Harley sell a trans like that...??

I have the SE six speed in a 06 bagger from the begining and love it, no noise. I use Spectro synthetic 75W140 gear oil if that will help anyone. I also use primary oil, I don't do that one oil everywhere deal.

My only reason for posting the MOCO NO was because I visit several other Harley chat sites and a lot of Bikers are asking the question " What is the MOCO going to do for those who spent money fixing before Torque Smoothing upgrade?" I may be one of the first to get their NO reply and I wanted to share that with those who are concerned. I'm not a rub-first timer, Townie, or mole. I've been riding for 40 plus years and I've built more bikes than most will ever own. I've got over 850,000 miles in 3 different countries on Harley. I'm riding about 12,000 miles a year now and It would beignorantfor me to ride a bike that is so lean the rear headpipe glows red at night. Ping WAS horrible. And trust that warranty would fix for when your hundreds of miles away from home-a burnt valve or melted piston totally shafts you. Townies don't have that worry. Ya know--the RUB who rides from bar to bar just a mile or 2from home. He probably wouldn't even notice ping and never get in 5th to hear whine. But I do respect the Townies, and RUBS, for they are owners and may someday venture out into the world. I fondly remember my first 5000 mile trip out west and to Sturgis. For those who have the same problems, I understand you. For those who have no problems, I envy you, and to the negative commenters, It takes all kinds. To theDude who wanted the first 10 didgets of my vin--1HD1FC4157- I hope that helps you for whatever reason. I'm curious. And yes, I did just join this site. It looks like a pretty decent place to spend some cabin fever. This site seems to be well put together. Hats off to those who build and maintain it.

Hey chuck your post burns my azz.You must be a real piece of work. Most of these guys can deal w/the noise as long as a fix was coming. The problem isnt as much the bikes but the way the MOCO has treated them while trying to get their new bike to act the way the better ones are. These guys are making the payments or have already and just want what the bike was talked up to be.You seem to know alot aboutGoldwings?

I'm sorry that it pizz's you off that I can see the difference
between a 100 year old design of amotorcycle and a 21st
century design motorcycle. I guess I should just be dumb
like other people and think a 100 year old rattle trap of a
motorcycle should run like a 21st century motorcycle
when Harley is trying so hard to give the people what they
want even with EPA out to squash this 100 year old
motorcycle out of the buying public's hands.

I guess I'm suppose to be mad at Harley for giving me what
I wanted like you and others are, but I just can't! Sorry"
I love my rattle trap Ultra,my smooth Wing and my buzzing
Concours just the way they are!

if that pizz's you off........ So be it"
