You da man...funny *** post.... been ridin spokes since 79.. current 05 Glide has the Profile Lace...nice wheels, easy to keep clean for spokes..did get a flat last year, was a pain in the ***..cost was only like $40.00 at an Indy to fix(course that;s after I got the bike home, and took the wheel off and brought it to him)....Get spokes if you want em...worry more about goin through the windshield of a dumb cager than of a flat, life's too short indeed..Joe mac

Laced does look better but I always go with cast wheels and tubeless tires because (1) tubeless tires are not as likely to blow out--they leak slowly if punctured and (2) they can usually be patched roadside and ridden home .

I have hadtwo flats in the past two years, patched them both and in one case rode over 200 milesbefore I found a dealer .

Depends on what kind or riding you do. Touring/long rides , go tubeless.
Around town/barhopping , go laced.

I vote for the laced rims, but I just ordered a RK Classic with the profile laced, so my opinion is slightly biased.

I've got to agree with Tampa Jim. If you pick up a nail with laced wheels you will blow out your tube and be on the rim in a hearbeat or two. That could be fatal in traffic, or on the freeway, or a combo of both. With cast wheels more than likely you will have a slower leak that will allow you to get to the side of the road safely. I love the look of the laced wheel, but for a touring bike it's got to be cast wheels. For a bar hopping bike laced is fine in my book.

AAA RV Service and/or Hog Membership solves part of the problem
Solved my flat tire issue back in September. When AAA could not get me a MC approved tow, HOG could. That's why I have both. BTW. Repair at my local dealer including new tube (rear wheel) cost $89.

I don't give a dam what kidna wheel ya got if ya poke a hole in the tire the air's comin out of it pretty fast. even if you had titanium wheels it would, kryptonite even. If you want spokes get em. More inconvenient with spokes, hell ifyou're in a hurry take a plane.

The plain truth is, a laced wheel with a tube will generally go flat much faster than a tubeless setup on a cast rim. This could be the difference between going down or being able to keep it upright. Two up things get even more exciting when a tube blows. If my wife was going to be on the back alot, I would definitely go with the cast wheel for the extra safety factor.

All this talk about flat tires reminds me of my first road trip. I was worried to death that my motorcycle wouldn't be in the parking lot the next morning. It didn't take me very long to decide that I could ride and enjoy it or I could worry and not enjoy it. I quit worrying about flats and theft a long time ago, now I just ride and enjoy.
