Default Laced Wheels

Santa plans on buying himself an '07 RK custom sometime after the holidays. I need toride, tranny issues can't deter me. Mrs. Claus likes the slotted discs, I think bike needs to have laced wheels...opions, issues, etc. Thanks and Happy Holidays!

I love the laced wheels, but the downside to them is they are tubed tires. If you get a flat, you'll need a tow to get the flat fixed. With a tubeless tire you might be able to fix iton the side of the road with one of those
quicky flat fixers. But laced wheels do look sharp.

Congrats and Merry Christmas.

Spokes look cool, but knowing something as simple as a flat tire will end your ride, leave you stranded and cost hundreds to fix doesn't seem worth it. My buddy got a flat at work and after the flatbed home, tire and install he spent over $500. Everybody gets a flat sooner or later - I plugged mine with a $29 kit and rode on.

I agree with Ice, I have AAA andHog--if you want spokes---get the spokes---and enjoy the bike.

You don't have to keep checking the spokes on cast wheels, less maintenence and easier to keep clean.

I have laced on the Heritage and spoke on the Ultra.

Like the peace of mind the spokes give me on the touring bike.

Yes, the laced look nice and are more old school traditional but one more blow out and they are going in the dumpster. [:@]

I understand there is a company that makes a laced wheel you can run tubeless. Don't have the information but they are out there.

Rather not worry about flats, I carry my fix-it kit.

You will look kool along the side of the road waiting for a tow truck to take you to a dealer where you can look kool waiting for hours on repair, given youre lucky and have your flat early. Elapsed time, about 6-10 hours on average. Now say you buy what wifey wants, you get flat, break out the 5.00 tire plug kit and pump up with the 20.00 12volt air compressor. back on the road. Elapsed time 15-20 minutes average. Its more to kool to be riding than sitting any day, much cheaper too. And not even to bring up the subject of warped and broken spokes and rims After a few years of use you have to watch for.

Oh fer cryin' out loud! If you like laced wheels, buy 'em and ride 'em. Life is too short to worry about what might happen. You guys act like anyone without mag wheels is doomed. How did the world survive over a hundred years of laced motorcycle wheels?

Otherwise, always wear a helmet just in case you get hit by a meteorite.

Ride fast, take chances.
