Anyone have any first hand info on this pipe? What improvements were there over the Touring Theader to substantiate doubling the price?
Waiting on tax check to come in any day now and was looking into Dragula pipe or Thunderheader. V & Hines Propipe is way loud from what others have said and it doesnt have 02 sensor bungs. ???
They have larger diameter header pipes than the original. If your concerned about loud then you probably don't want a TH. The V+H pipes I'm sure come set up for O2 sensors.
My motor is stock 96. Yeah the TH is pretty loud. Sometimes my work requires me in early and I hate to be the one to wake the neighborhood, but with that said Id also like it to be heard if I have to get on it. Sooo back to decisions decisions....
I have the TH X Pipe with 4" rineharts. Not loud at all at idle and I have a healthy 110. My 2006 Ultra with 98" motor and D&D fatcat with quiet baffle is louder.
Here is a video of a bike with my exhaust. Not my bike but you'll get an idea
If you're looking for a 2:1 (based on what your original options listed were), go with a Dragos and don't worry about sound (and just don't twist the throttle too much leaving the driveway). There really isn't a "quiet" 2:1 out there except for a Supermeg perhaps.
I've run thunderheaders for close to 20 years on my softail and love them, my guess is you would want the standard TH for a 96 not the X. I've heard very good things about Dragons pipes as well. I've bought other stuff from him and he's great to deal with, he even offers a horsepower guarantee that his pipes will outperform any other 2:1 pipes.
