Please help! I'm new to this Forum, and I'm trying to troubleshoot a problem:
I own a 2014 Iron 883 and I just replaced the stock header pipes with the jet black HD header pipes (same stock exhaust system, just a different look). However, now the "check engine" light comes on- and stays on- when the bike is running.
Is this the O2 sensor on one of the pipes? I double checked both pipes and the O2 sensors seem to be on pretty tight. Any ideas to get this resolved?
Also, is it regular for the new header pipes to give off a different smell, as if they're getting broken in?
did you swap out the original o2 sensors to the new pipe ?? not sure if the new pipe came with them in it. you want to unplug the o2 sensors and take a good look at the terminals make sure you did not bend them when you disconnected them prior. or make sure one of them is not backed out which would not make good contact. on both connectors and look close at the ones on the bikes harness for the same . the smell is normal on the new pipe
At this point, I'm 99% sure that the rear O2 sensor was compromised. I've looked up a few different replacement O2 sensors- is there a certain brand I should shop for or stay away from?
