Default 10" Bars? 2008 Ultra

Forgive me if I've over looked this in the 5000 posts that are related . . . but, I've about decided to put 10" Bars on My 2008 Ultra Classic (BAD right shoulder pain). My problem is, the pics I've found SEEM to keep the same distance forward if not further away. I know LIFTING will help but I'm scared that by doing that, I'll actually have to stretch further . . . thoughts? And PLEASE, pics if ya got'em . . . THANKS

You don't have to push them all the way to the fairing, you can roll them back to where they are comfortable for you. Mine aren't pushed all the way forward but are pretty close, but that is where they are most comfortable to me.

Here are a couple of pics:

Awesome! That's what I was looking for . . the thought didn't occur to me to rotate . . . I guess if you went too far aft, you would defeat the purpose though. I'm gonna give this a shot in a few weeks . . . hope I'm not messing up

My 10" PYO. I push it forward and it's very comfortable for me. Hope my pics will help you.

That does help . . .I think I'll probably pull mine forward a little . . .I'm using the driver's back rest and it just seems that after I put my feet up on the pegs and lean back . . . I'm stretching to hold the grips. From the pics so far, I'm definitely leaning more and more for the 10" . . .

The sad part is there is no way to tell how you will like them until you put them on your bike, with your seat and spend 4 hours in the saddle.

Mine are 12"s and pulled back quite a bit (to about the height a 10" would be). I am going to push them forward a little when I get my grips changed. I wish I had gone with the 10".
FYI: I am 6' with a 32" inseam

stop thinking, go for it!!! you won't regret it!!!

last thing is that 10" save money because you don't need to extend cables or lines.

Outside of the shoulder pain, you and I are lookin for the same thing, same year, same bike.

I have tried to look at every possible thread about it, different forums, pics, and anything else...and let me tell you.. my mind is spinning with the amount of info. I want 10's because I want higher, but not above fairing. However, as you can noticed, some 10's are above the fairing while others aren't. also.. like you said, some people push their bars further forward to get more arm stretch and not feel pushed back. For your back pain, you need the bars higher but closer to you as well. This is where bars like the +2 sweepers MIGHT come in better. But I thought they were still too low. So I have been looking at the PYO monkey bars and the PYO classic apes. They have the pullback I want, but the height concerns me... HOWEVER, I would think if you pulled back the classic apes(which are like $99) I think you would be fine. I am thinking about those too.

The biggest problem I have found is that almost every bar maker has a 10 listed, but each is different in that 10 doesn't always mean 10 depending on how it is measured, the pull back, end rise, blah blah blah. That makes the search difficult. Like the other poster said.. until you get em, mount em and ride with em, you won't know. I purchased a set of the Klockwerk ergo backs. I haven't mounted them yet and probably won't. Reason is that I was able to find a bike local that had a set of the standard height version, and I didn't care for the wrist angle and I like drag bars.. but these feel more straight then my drag bars on my other bike. So I have a set of those I will have to resell.

Good luck with your search. I'm not sure which way I am going.

I am going to start a thread about heights etc because we need to try and get these numbers in one thread, and maybe sticky it.
