Started this thread last May and have FINALLY MADE A PURCHASE. I bought the UCLEAR 200. Will be posting a complete review soon but let me just say right now THIS IS A FANTASTIC PRODUCT!!! The INTERCOM function alone has me totally knocked out! It appears to be everything they advertize the product to be! My only question at this point is the reliability of the electronics.....only time and a one year warranty will tell. Bluetooth to my cellphone and streaming music but the Intercom is my primary use and interest. I can now communicate with my GF and the audio is JUST UNBELIEVABLE!!!! Clear as a bell no hiss pop crackle no interference....none. Good up to about 40 yards apart...two way conversation with no over ride...just super! AND NO BOOM MICROPHONE!
Have you had an opportunity to use this yet? What's your review of the product. How is the Music quality? Thanks.
We are on our second season with the UClear units. All in all I am quite pleased with this product. The intercom function is flawless and the audio is spectacular. Incoming calls from my cellphone leave the caller completely unaware that I am blasting down the interstate running over the speed limit. My GF reports satisfactory results listening to her Ipod via bluetooth for music and can toggle between intercom and music with relative ease. A major complaint about the UClear units is that the buttons are a bit daunting with gloved fingers. I will have to agree with that assessment but would not lobby for any redesign of the actual unit in order to address this minor issue.
The actual units are quite small and unobtrusive when mounted on helmets. Completely boom free! This was the selling factor for me. NO BOOM! I wear a Shoei Neotec modular helmet. Audio to my GF and back is crystal clear with virtually no wind noise whatsoever. Even with my helmet open completely the audio between us is still very very very good! Charge time is very good. We can run all day for up to 10/12 hours without running out of juice. Recharging takes only a few hours on a dead unit. Easily done overnite and ready for the next day with no problem.
We havent had the opportunity to link up with any other UClear users so I cannot comment on the feature of multiple linked rider communication. I think the UClear will connect up to 8 in a group.
Havent tried to hook up a bluetooth GPS so cant comment on that.
All in all I think they are pretty bulletproof and would buy them again without question. Wish I could buy stock in the company because they have a real winner with this technology. Nobody else has this boomless capability and UClear owns it.
I was looking at Sena and Scala. I ran into the Scala vendor booth at Las Vegas Bikefest and liked the features and the range. The wife and I did an 8 hour ride from the Bay area to Vegas and wanted a comm setup before we headed back. After reading the material and on-line reviews I pulled the trigger on the Scalarider G9 PowerSet. I bought the unit from the local Cycle Gear shop. Installation went fine. First time we tried to use the units one of the boom mikes was bad. Off to Cycle Gear I go and the guy named Paul which sold me the unit was very helpful. He verified the boom mike was bad and replaced it on the spot. Paul help me setup the comm and verified everything worked before we left the shop. It took me and the wife 8.5 hours to drive back from Vegas to the Bay area and the trip was so much nicer being able to talk along the way. Keep in mind that I5 is a very boring ride. I do recommend upgrading the software to 1.5 which fixed a few bugs. I can play my music from my Windows 8 phone, make calls, and listen to the radio for traffic reports when I commute to work. I haven't test out the GPS voice navigation yet but plan to do so soon.

I have a sena on my half helmet, you have to use ear buds and the boom mike picks up more wind noise than a FF or a shield. But all in all good sound and function. For me it's a good experience to talk with my wife when we ride.
