Throttle and Idle Cable

Doing some routine maintenace and Lube...
Found Idle cable frayed (3-4 strands) right at the throttle butterfly.
about 3/4" of it was starting to rust.
I lube it frequently but....

Word of caution , it wasn't going to last to much longer.....
Changed it out, little of a pain.
didn't realize how bad it was getting until I replaced it.

Had to replace the throttle cable on my old '06 at 30000 miles.The cable broke at the ball at the twist grip.

They'll brake easier, if there in't a little weee bit of slack down at the throttlebody, when you turn it wide open.
In other words, it should hit the stop on the twist grip first.
