Default Q for sound system experts: auxiliary input

Hi everyone

I would like to have a "permanent" auxiliary input plugged into my 2009 SG sound system instead of using the front panel input.
My plan is to have a cable running down the neck so I can put an iPod velcroed inside the fairing cap and use a RF remote on my handlebars.
Is there such an auxiliary input that can be accessed from the inside of the fairing so that I don't have a wire going to the front panel auxiliary input?

Thanks in advance for any assistance, help, or suggestions!

iron cross audio will install an aux plug on the back of your stock hk unit. i believe they also have a 'tutorial' to show you how to do it yourself, if you're brave. involves some cutting on the head unit.

Are you wanting to place the IPOD inside the fairing ??? If so,...............I wouldn't. I would run a cable back to the saddlebag.

Thanks for the replies.
@skratch, I looked up Iron Cross and their iPod integration cable looks like a good choice, I wouldn't need to run on the iPod's battery. I'm not afraid of a little cutting so I'll try to find the tutorial.
@glacierpearl, I would velcro the iPod in the fairing cap only so I can reach down and take it off/put it on easily without having to remove the fairing.

Thanks again

seems like it would be easier and a cleaner install to use the iPod control module. This way, you don't need the added RF remote on the bars and the iPod would not be exposed.

Yes, I did see the HDPDPLUS in your website, looks even better because you can use the stock controls. I'll send you a PM.

There is a great instruction page on doing this, including pics.

I did it, no regrets at all and it was easy enough, just take care.

Can't find the link as I am posting this from a mobile, but google I your friend

This link will give you step-by-step instructions (with plenty of pics) on how to install a permanent AUX input in the rear of the Harmon Kardon.
