My windshield fits so tight without the use of the wire things, it is hard/ tight to install. Sometimes I wonder if something is wrong..

Like some others said, the latches never contacted anything on mine, either. I removed them and ran a zip tie through one of the holes on the bracket where the latch was attached. Ran the zip tie around the bracket bolted to the fork. Not worried about theft, but just have more insurance against freak wind gusts. Never had the windshield shift at all without the zip tie, including riding one day in gale force cross winds. Just feel better with the zip tie added.

This wins the cheapskate award. I'll have to try that. Great Idea. Thanks, Rick

Take wind screen off, take a pair of pliers and bend the 90 that goes over the grommet more like a 70, it can take it. That way it actually curves under the grommet. It becomes a positive latch and still quick detach.

Seems to me that when parked on a windy day you got to have something to keep it from blowing off. Gotta check mine out.

Here's some latches I made for mine a long time ago. Similar to the Brukus kit. Cut them out of a thin shelf bracket. This was prototype. Made a couple of more nicer and of course had them chromed.

Many thanks to Jeff Brown of Thunder Roads Ohio Magazine for featuring our ShieldShackle for Road Kings in the latest issue! He used the ShieldShackle to design a Do-It-Yourself Fairing. You can see the article starting on page 56 - Here.

Jeff Also made up an installation video for the ShieldShackle! He did a great job!

And - wanted to let you know that we are taking pre-orders on the ShieldShackle for Heritage Softails, which should be in stock by the 15th. We've had a lot of requests for this so glad this is finally available.

Ok this post is useless without picture. Can someone please snap a shot of how this OEM spring latch should PROPERLY be positioned after installation is completed?

Should this spring line up with center of the grommet and bottom tip be positioned behing grommet? Is this correct?

if anyone can help with picture it would be great help.

Mine too. I didn't take it on and off more than a few times though. I wonder if the rubber grommets are the culprits, maybe getting worn over time.
