Default STETLER's RK HUGE Stereo build - thread

I have been wanting to do a stereo on my 07 Road King that would just straight Kick Azz. One that's Loud but mainly CLEAN sounding. I did a lot of searching online and got some great ideas. Couldn't find anybody running Full Hertz audio stuff. So hopefully this sytem turns out really nice.

I should have it complete by the Laughlin River run. So this thread might drag on for a little bit.

I am going to have DragonFly install the system and upgrade my charging system.
I already installed the 6X9 speakers in the lids and the 5-1/4" in the housings that will be moounted on the crashbars.

Here's what I'll be installing:

( 2 ) Hertz - Amps - HDP4
( 4 ) Hertz - 3 way speakers - HCX 690
( 2 ) Audison - 2 way speakers - AV X5
( 2 ) Hertz - 1" tetolon Fiber dome Tweeters - Mille ML 280
( 1 ) 2 Din head unit with DVD & GPS

will be using a DragonFly Front removable Fairing that is getting cut up and custom fiberglass to fit the 2 din.

Decided to only run 1 set of these. I'm selling the other set if anybodys interisted in it

These will be mounted on the crash bars down low. I actually just took them back apart and sent them in to get painted black So they blend in better
I had to cut up the grill to fit the tweeter that sticks out a little. Also had to cut down the metal mounting tabs on the speaker cage so they would slide into the speaker bucket.

I've also got this EQ but not sure if I'll be using it. I'll leave it up to DragonFly to see if it will benifit me or not

the lids are already painted and installed

The 6 X 9 bag lids took some modifying. I choose to go with the Hertz HCX - 690 speakers and they are extremely large speakers. When I went to install them in the lids I noticed that the woofer ring would hit the fiberglass just outside of the cut out ring. So I had to build a spacer out of MDF to allow the speaker to sit recessed back into the hard bag. Here's some pics of the actual install

Here's a few pics of the DragonFly fairing at the paint shop getting modified.

Thanks guys.

I wasn't planning on running the stereo when the fairing isn't installed.

The amps will have to be installed in one of the saddle bags. With the 2-din head unit and the GPS antenna, They'll be really no room for a amp inside the fairing.
