Default Is having the speedo out a problem?

I needed to pull the speedo out of my '09 FLTR to have some work done on it. But with the weather really breaking here in the northeast in VERY significant way, I'd really like to be able to ride.....even without the gauge in-place. Other than not knowing my specific speed, would this cause any problems? I haven't even tried starting the bike without it yet. With all the electronics and feedback loops, I just thought I'd ask before trying.

I suppose an upside would be if that cop pulls me over and asks "Do you know how fast you were going?" I can answer with a straight face, "no!"

good question. I would imagine the cruise wont work, possibly abs as well never tried it or looked at the circuits that go thru the cluster. with can, you need the signals to at least have a path, whether or not the signal is there, you are breaking the path, which will bring can down. can't hurt anything, I'm sure it should start. fire it up see what works and doesn't and decid from there. you're not going to burn up the ecm or body control module or anything like that

I may fire it up tonight and see what works and what doesn't. I have no plans to use cruise and I don't have ABS, so no worries there. Also, the turn signal indicators are not part of the speedo.

Thanks HC1992 & kamp. I just took it for a quick spin - just a few miles. No issues & now I can at least ride until I get my speedo back.?..probably early next week.
