Not sure how the ***** and ramp would be affected since they are held in place with a large snap ring to prevent them from coming apart and you haven't been in that side of the tranny obviously the way you are talking about not wanting to remove the exhaust and all.

Did you torque in the sequence from the manual.

I did the same this years ago, and the clutch acted the same way. The sping was the wrong one. Good luck.

Not loosening the cable and not re-adjusting the clutch pack will cause the very thing you describe.
Try adjusting the spring pack with the cable full lose. Then adjust the cable and you should be back in business.
