Has anyone noticed that the inside of their 7" touring headlight reflector housing is discolored and hazed? You don't notice it initially when the head light is off but eventually it gets bad enough that it shows whether on or off. Mine was slowly turning more and more discolored, but it only showed when the head light was operating. When off it appeared normal. Then I started to notice a decrease in light output so I made a note to myself last year in the Fall and forgot about it. This weekend I put my Fairing back together and tested the lights and low and behold I remembered . It is worse than I remembered as well. All milky and discolored on the inside. I asked if there was a SB on this when I went to pick up a new unit and was told $116.00!!! They said no, but bring it back anyway, and we will at least ask Harley! I don't expect anything but thought I'd check with you folks out there to see if you are having anything similar? Check while the headlight is on. I suppose it will be the same as the gauges and turn signals on many bike out there....Its normal!
Had the same issue with mine. I removed the housing and the bulb and cleaned it with dawn dish washing soap. Rinsed it throughly and let it dry. Came out just like new.
After further thought I should mention, use only a couple of drops of soap ,and add a small amount of water. Sloshing it around inside the headlight housing. Then rinse.
