I bought the HD kit due to not having to cut and chop wires. I try to keep all wiring harnesses and connections as factory as possible. It will be interesting to see the road light up with the new phase 7 headlight on high beam and the phase 7 passing lamps running together tomorrow when my lights are delivered.

Look at the connection on the harness under the fairing. Find the connection where the aux switch connects. Right above it is the connection for the spot lights. Just switch the connections and the spots will be on all the time. The other side tho is that whatever you have hooked up to the aux switch will then cut out when you hit the brights.

from what I have read on the matter it is the law that your driving lights go out with your high beams , check your car , same way , but the wire kit from HD I think is a good buy , got one last week end for the wifes bike to make sure I get it on a safe circut and not the ecm or something , they switch it to the acc circut

This I don't understand...When its dark and no one is coming towards you and you hit your high beam because you need more light and your other two lights go off? At that point who care how many lights you have on...and who will even see?

I see it every day bro.

I really don't think that Harley would make a harness to do something that goes against dot regulations. As to why this isn't a standard factory option is beyond me also. I but it will be on the newer models. I just picked one of these up a month ago myself.

You're correct about the taps, but really the proper way to do it is with a mechanical crimp splice and heat shrink. A solder joint will vibrate and weaken over time too. You NEVER see solder joints in the automotive/aviation industry except printed circuit boards. And when something electric fails, what is it that usually fails? Printed circuit board solder joints.

I wonder if the harness isn't designed for police bikes?

I bought the harness from the Moco and installed it at the same time as the front LED turn signals and the HDPDPLUS iPod interface - all of which required the fairing be removed.
My issue with the DIY version was that it uses the ACC switch circuit to turn the lamps on/off...
That's OK if you've got nothing else on that circuit....and don't plan on putting anything else on it.
I already have my Electra-Glo Light Rails and my Motolights on that circuit. I'm also thinking of getting the tourpak LED spoiler lights again (had 'em on my 2000 and my 2006 Ultras and loved having it)...
(If the Limited didn't already come with the luggage rack CENTERED on the tourpak, leaving questionable room to mount the spoiler, I'd have had it on already....with the Ultras - I ordered the luggage rack and spoiler and mounted them both myself)
So it becomes a question of how much you can safely put on the one circuit.
I chose to spend the small amount of money for the Moco harness, and leave the wiring stock, rather than cut into the ACC switch and possibly overload it.

I guess I really need to know if this is the same for an 04? Anyone have a picture of that?
