Question How do you adjust primary?

OK, So I drained the fluid and see that my chain is a little loose. I loosened the bolt and the adjusting shoe fell all the way down. How do you move it up and keep pressure against it while you tighten the bolt. It keeps wanting to fall back down and I can't get enough fingers in there to pull it up. Whats the trick??????

Get yourself a H-D factory maintenance manual. The part telling you about adjusting the chain tensioner says to loosen the nut only one full turn. that keeps the whole thing from doing to you what it did to you.

The manual should be the first and most valuable thing in your tool kit.
Glad you got it fixed!

Make sure to check for pressure point by turning it you don't want it too tight at any location.
