Yesterday I was riding my bike, and I stopped to see my wife at her office. When I went to leave, as soon as I hit the start button, I heard a loud click/pop (from what I believe to be the starter engaging) then lost all power. After checking the potential suspect fuses and battery connection (not to mention knocking over my saddle bag and completely ****ing up the paint on the lid) I put everything back together and still nothing. Then out of the blue when I hit my left turn signal everything powered up. I try to start the bike, and the same thing happened again, and it's still dead right now.
Does anyone have any ideas on what this could be? I believe the battery is fine.
I am going to guess you checked your Maxi Fuse, I would guess if that went it would make a loud pop. But since you did get power again, that is probably not it.
You said you think the battery is good, but I would check it and make sure your connections are on tight, if they are see If jumping it will help. That's a weird one, keep us posted on what it is.
see if you can check your wires leadind back to your directionals sounds like maybe a chaffed wire contacting the frame somewhere with the bike not running a chaffed wire short could sound like a loud click and pop. just a thought as tthis has happened on my godsons sporty. electrical problems suck !!!
Well, I found the problem. The transcendulator and the ABS refibular valves were shorting each other out causing a disturbance in the owner/operator not realizing his battery cables were loose.
Apparently the dealer that did my 103 Stage II kit did not tighten the battery leads down all the way when they put my engine back together. They were snug to the touch when you tried to wiggle them, but when you took a wrench to the bolts, there was still 1/2-3/4 turn left. That did the trick.
Took off on mine Sunday and when we stopped for gas, would not start. Took battery out, took ground and hot cables loose from frame and starter, still no start. So, called stealership ( this ones open 7 days a week) They sent the trailer and pulled starter, which had died. Called them today, said starter ordered but won't get here til next wednesday. Bummer, missed a lot of good riding weather this week.
