Broken "Tube Support, Bottom"
Don't know how common this is, but I while I was rebuilding my forks over the weekend I noticed this:

I knew that it sounded like my tourpack was a bit bouncy, and I thought it was worn bushings; guess not! The "Tube Support, Bottom 53422-97" had completely broken, and the whole rear of the fender/bags/tourpack were not supported correctly.
I didn't see it 'till I had the bike on the lift (because of the viewing angle I think), but it really surprised me.

I had one side break on a trip and the fender got into the tire and started rubbing the sidewall. Luckily I found a take off at the dealer so all I lost was an afternoon and had to replace the tire that only had about 4,000 miles on it
