Tie-down anchor for baggers. Install with pics.
I hope to be able to make it to Thunder Beach again this Spring and am making preparations. I will have to trailer the bike part way. Tying down the Wide Glide was no problem and I could do it myself with relative ease and confidence. The Street Glide presents a new set of problems for which I have some solutions.
I know that others have tied down Street Glides and Ultras and used various points on the bike. I also know that HD and others make special brackets to attach to the forks near the passing lamps / turn signals.
I saw in an HDForums thread a write-up about the Kiwi-Indian Tie-down anchor and liked what I saw and read.
I ordered one from ebay and have had a good experience thus far. I mounted the anchor to the bike today. I like the way the anchor looks and the fact that it is more-less hidden from obvious view. The anchor should allow the staps to be attached securely to the bike without contacting painted or chrome surfaces.
It will be a bit before I actually utilize it to secure the bike as I am still waiting to get a chock for the trailer to help hold the bike upright and steady.
Install was straight-forward and a snap. The time stamp in the pictures tell another story, but in my defense, I was interupted and did a couple of things in between.
The box that the anchor, washers, instructions and other paperwork came in.

The anchor and instruction sheet.

Before, from the right side of the bike.

Installed.

A bit further back.
I got it through Kiwi-Indian on ebay, $59.99 + shipping = $70.98 shipped.

I don't venture too far yet. I hope to get the missus on soon and get down to Warm Springs and Pine Mountain. That might be overdoing it, LOL.
