Ive seen the Cyclesmiths on a few bikes around here and for extensions I think they are the best looking ones available
The ones Ive seen a line / seam were they connect and did not line up correctly with the stock fender filler, they were lower like extended bags.
Im looking forward to seeing pictures its always good to have other options.
There are a lot of aftermarket ABS bag manufactures making 1"-3" S versions, 1-4" S versions, 2 and 4" extended versions . Im not a fan of the fiberglass bags either and have been looking a ABS options.
yep....I've had the old bags....and it took a pro bodyman some serious time sanding and filling with feather fill and blocking etc. to get them to where I liked them.....but the insides were still glass and liked to leave the itchy stuff on the clothes.
Great idea, Joe! I just saw these installed on a bike in a show this weekend, thought they looked great. I wondered why CycleSmiths didn't offer them in "raw" just so people could paint them. Curious how yours turn out. I too like the rear cutouts, they would match the CVO fender I think. Only thing I'm not real cool on is the step in the extentions near the front. I think it'd be nicer if they were straight across, but that's just me. Can't wait to see em!

I put the Harley extensions on my 2010 FLHX. Had them painted to match as well. Bought the extended bags on this 2012, the extra room is handy. I'm thinkin yours will look better painted to match but then again, I'm not a chrome guy.

Ive yet to see anyone paint the Cyclesmith extensions. Ive only seen them in the chrome, and contrast cut, both of which stood out too much for my liking. Im thinkin color matched will look pretty sharp. Itll be too bad if they cover your pin-striping, but you can get it touched up if necessary.
The extensions arrived, all painted up and ready to go;
I used stainless Steel 1/4x20 X3/4 long bolts, wax coated nuts, flat washers, 2 per bolt and 1 rubber washer per bolt......4 bolts per side:
Here is a pic showing the difference:
fit and finish......well.....the sides are tight, small gaps around the back, and a pretty good sized gap up front.
Here are some finished install pics, to include a quick spin up to Sturgis for a beer at the Knuckle and a ride back home through Deadwood and the hills....just a nice 80 mile quick buzz through the hills.
And, they didn't cover up the flames! Made my day on that one!
